Anambra Police Release Detained Biafra Agitators, Advocating Peaceful Pursuit of Independence

The police in Anambra State have released seven individuals, including an 87-year-old Catholic Priest, who were recently apprehended by security forces in connection with their involvement in Biafra agitation.

The detained individuals were accused of being associated with Chief Raph Uwazuruike’s Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

Among those released were Rev. Fr. Samuel Aniebonem, aged 87, and Chief Sylvester Dinyelu, along with five others.

The news of their release prompted celebrations in Awka and Onitsha.

Mazi Chris Mocha, the Director of Information and Senior Special Adviser to BIM-MASSOB on Media and Publicity, confirmed the release in a statement to reporters in Awka.

Mocha emphasized the importance of pursuing peaceful methods for achieving self-determination for Biafra and urged MASSOB members to follow Chief Raph Uwazuruike’s example to continue their consistent and unwavering pursuit of their goals.
