In a recent statement, Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a prominent figure within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned politicians against prematurely diverting attention towards the 2027 presidential elections, particularly concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Mumuni, through his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, emphasized that the nation should prioritize governance over political maneuvering during this crucial period. He voiced his concerns in response to the formation of the “Forum of 2023 APC Presidential Candidates,” led by former Zamfara governor Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima, with its objective being to support President Tinubu’s potential second term bid in 2027.
Expressing skepticism over the timing of such initiatives, Mumuni urged politicians to refrain from distracting the president with future political plans, asserting that the focus should be on addressing the current needs of the nation.
Mumuni stated, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has since moved on from the 2023 election. From all indications, he is now busy with governance and his promise to bring renewed hope to the masses. We know how demanding all these can be; so the President should not be distracted with political shenanigans at this very defining period of our nationhood.”
He further noted the inappropriateness of engaging in discussions about the 2027 presidential race, highlighting that the president needs time to concentrate on delivering on his promises.
Mumuni concluded by urging those with political aspirations to channel their energy into contributing to the development of their respective states and positively impacting the lives of citizens.
