Bandit Attack Claims Six Lives in Southern Kaduna’s Takanai Community

In yet another devastating attack, bandits targeted the Takanai community within the Atyap Chiefdom, located in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives.

While the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command was unavailable for comment, Samson Markus, the Acting Secretary to the District Head of the affected community, confirmed the incident to the media.

Markus disclosed that the bandits launched their attack on the community on Tuesday night, resulting in the loss of lives. He recounted the harrowing experience, saying, “We were going about our normal businesses when we heard gunshots, initially assuming it was the military. However, before the military arrived, the bandits had already claimed the lives of six individuals, including two children.”

He further explained that the arrival of the military eventually compelled the bandits to flee the community. Markus expressed deep sorrow over the continued occurrence of such tragic incidents in their villages, despite hopes for the restoration of peace.

He appealed to the government and the military to intensify their efforts in combatting the terrorists who continue to invade villages and perpetrate violence against innocent civilians.

Just five days prior to this incident, a neighboring community in Kaura was similarly attacked by bandits, resulting in the tragic death of a mother and the abduction of her children.
