Three people lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, marking yet another tragedy on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.

The crash occurred early Wednesday morning near the Sagamu toll gate, involving a commercial bus and a trailer. Eyewitnesses reported a high-speed collision that left the victims trapped and several others injured.

“The impact was severe; emergency responders had to work for over an hour to rescue survivors,” said a roadside vendor who witnessed the incident.

Safety Concerns on the Expressway

This latest fatal crash adds to the growing list of accidents on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, raising urgent calls for enhanced road safety measures, better traffic management, and strict enforcement of regulations.

Officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have dispatched teams to the scene and confirmed the fatalities.

FRSC Appeals for Caution

The FRSC urged motorists to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and avoid dangerous driving behaviors to prevent further loss of lives on this critical transport corridor.

The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
