Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (retd.), on Monday evening held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Our correspondent sighted Musa arriving at the State House at exactly 7:03 p.m., dressed in a dark-green northern traditional attire with elbow-length sleeves. He was ushered into the President’s office wing by a senior security official.
The engagement marks Musa’s first public visit to the Villa since his retirement by President Tinubu on October 24, 2025.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, it comes at a time of escalating security challenges across the North, prompting intensified counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping operations by security agencies.
In recent weeks, Nigeria has witnessed a series of disturbing incidents, including the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, the attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State, and the kidnapping of Catholic schoolchildren in Minna, Niger State.
The Nigerian Air Force has also pledged enhanced security for schools nationwide, while northern governors and traditional leaders have jointly called for a six-month suspension of mining activities and renewed advocacy for state police as part of broader security interventions.
Musa’s visit is expected to generate further speculation within security and political circles, particularly regarding possible advisory roles or consultations as the Federal Government reassesses its approach to combating violent extremism and banditry.
