Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming 2023 general elections, extended his congratulations to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. Atiku commended the PDP for its significant impact on Nigeria’s socio-economic and political development over the years.
In a statement released on Friday, Atiku expressed his optimism regarding the PDP’s resurgence and its role in shaping Nigeria’s future. He emphasized the PDP’s pivotal role in nurturing contemporary democracy in Nigeria and pledged the party’s commitment to not only upholding democracy but also ensuring the country thrives through it.
Atiku, who is one of the founding fathers of the PDP, took pride in his involvement in nurturing the party from its early days into a prominent force for socio-political and economic development in Nigeria. He highlighted the PDP’s 16-year leadership in the country and its contributions to positive growth in various aspects of Nigeria’s national life.
He stated, “In the 16 years that the PDP was at the helm of affairs in our country, the party offered quality leadership through various administrations, and the achievements recorded in those 16 years have remained the benchmark for positive growth in our economy and other critical areas of our national life.”
Atiku underscored the PDP’s historical role in ending military rule in Nigeria and stressed that the challenges facing the nation today require the PDP to rise to the occasion once more. He emphasized the need to address economic hardships and structural deficiencies that have negatively affected Nigerians over the past nearly eight and a half years.
