Lagos, Nigeria – Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has publicly refuted bribery allegations made against him by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
The allegations emerged following the release of a viral audio by VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky purportedly claimed that he paid N15 million to unnamed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
The EFCC swiftly responded to the viral audio. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dele Oyewale, the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed that EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede had initiated an investigation into the bribery claims.
On Wednesday, Bobrisky took to Instagram to categorically deny the accusation. He insisted that the audio was fake and that he had never bribed EFCC officials. Bobrisky further clarified that he had served his sentence in full, dismissing any claims that he avoided jail time.
“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information,” he stated.
The unfolding controversy has sparked widespread discussions online, with the EFCC confirming that both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan will be invited for questioning as part of their ongoing investigation.
