Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the former deputy chairman of Bello Mohammed Matawalle Zamfara State Governorship Campaign Committee 2023, has extended his congratulations to Governor Dauda Lawal on his recent victory at the Supreme Court.
In a statement personally signed and released to journalists in Abuja, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi expressed his belief that the final judgment of the apex court provides an opportunity for politicians, regardless of party affiliation, to collaborate in restoring security in the state. He highlighted the significant challenges faced by Zamfara, including banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and the imposition of taxes and levies on villagers by armed bandits.
Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi acknowledged the 10-month legal battles, culminating in the Supreme Court’s decision on January 12, as an integral part of the democratic process. He emphasized the importance of cherishing and supporting this process, which allows all parties to seek legal redress through the courts.
The former deputy chairman urged Governor Dauda Lawal to use this victory as an opportunity to deliver key elements of good governance to the people of Zamfara. He emphasized the need for consensus-oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective, efficient, equitable, and inclusive governance.
Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi encouraged the governor to rule the state with the fear of God and provide dividends of democracy to alleviate the sufferings of the people. He called for an end to political victimization, witch hunting, and the prosecution of political opponents, urging the governor to unite all critical political stakeholders for the prosperity of Zamfara State.
Commending Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, the APC candidate, for his resilience in the political journey, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi praised the exemplary conduct of the APC members who fought within the confines of democratic principles during the legal battles.
He also expressed gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their support to the APC family in Zamfara State and their commitment to the growth of democracy in Nigeria.
