Fayemi Urges APC Leadership to Actively Engage in Policy Formulation

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to play a more active role in policy formulation rather than being mere spectators. Fayemi emphasized the need for the party’s leadership, led by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to relay feedback from Nigerians to President Bola Tinubu and encouraged a more collaborative approach.

These remarks were made during Fayemi’s address at the public presentation of the book titled “APC and Transition Politics,” authored by Salihu Lukman, the former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the party. Fayemi commended Lukman as the conscience of the APC and progressive politics, emphasizing the importance of the book in guiding the party toward progress.

In his address, Fayemi stressed that the APC should not merely observe policymaking but actively project its manifesto for effective implementation by the government. He urged leaders at all levels to use Lukman’s message to initiate the rebuilding process of the party, highlighting the critical role of the party in influencing policy decisions.

Additionally, former APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, encouraged Lukman to seek internal resolutions for party issues before going public. Oshiomhole acknowledged the criticism from Lukman but expressed disappointment at the author’s failure to recognize his contributions to the party, including significant financial support during the 2019 general elections.

While appreciating the constructive criticism, Oshiomhole underscored the need for internal dialogue within the party to resolve issues effectively. Lukman, in response, stated that the motivation behind his book was to stimulate discussion within the party, encourage leaders to own the book, and integrate its insights into the party’s structures for a more progressive future.
