Shina Peller, a former representative of the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency in Oyo State, officially switched allegiance from the Accord Party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday. The event took place in Ode-Oba, Iseyin, where Governor Seyi Makinde welcomed Peller and several Accord Party members from Oyo North Senatorial District into the PDP.
Peller, who had previously left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Accord Party ahead of the 2023 general election, was received by Governor Makinde’s deputy, Bayo Lawal. The PDP flag was symbolically handed over to the ex-lawmaker during the ceremony.
Governor Makinde, represented by Deputy Governor Lawal, assured Peller that he would not regret joining the PDP. He urged party executives at the local level to collaborate with the newcomers, emphasizing unity within the party.
In his address, Peller cited Governor Makinde’s visionary leadership as the primary reason for joining the PDP. He praised Makinde’s accomplishments in Oyo North Senatorial District, emphasizing the unprecedented development from Moniya to Iseyin, Oyo to Iseyin, Ogbomoso to Iseyin, and beyond. Peller expressed his commitment to supporting Governor Makinde and the PDP in advancing the progress of the state.
