Just In; In Anambra, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has defeated a three-term member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives.Just In;

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Afam Ogene, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, has won the Ogbaru Federal Constituency supplementary election in Anambra held on Saturday. This victory means that Ogene has unseated the three-term incumbent House of Representatives member, Chukwuma Onyema, who represented the constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Announcing the results at Atani, headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area, INEC’s Returning Officer, Kingsley Ubaorji, said Mr Ogene polled 10,851 votes to defeat Mr Onyema, who polled 10,619 votes.

He added that Arinze Awogu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 10,155 votes as the second runner-up.

“Afam Ogene of the Labour Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes cast, is declared winner of the election,’’ Mr Ubaorji said.

INEC declared the initial election held on February 25 inconclusive because of infractions and violence.
