The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expressed profound grief over the demise of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Na’Abba.
Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, the national chairman of SDP, conveyed the party’s condolences through a video on social media, extending sympathies to the families of Na’Abba and Akeredolu.
In the video, Gabam characterized the deaths of Na’Abba and Akeredolu as a significant loss to the nation, recognizing their substantial contributions to the country. He specifically highlighted Na’Abba’s role in advancing democracy, acknowledging his leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts.
The SDP national chairman called for unity in prayers and mourning across Ondo and Kano States and the entire nation in honor of these esteemed leaders. He expressed the sentiment that the legacies of Governor Akeredolu and Hon. Ghali Umar Na’abba will endure in the hearts and minds of the people they served.
During the video message, Gabam pleaded with the federal government and the national assembly to immortalize Ghali Na’Abba, underlining the exceptional caliber of his leadership.
Additionally, the SDP national chairman voiced deep concern over recent killings in Kaduna, Zamfara, and Plateau States, urging President Bola Tinubu to fulfill his commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property as sworn during his oath of office.
Addressing President Tinubu, Gabam emphasized the need for proactive measures to address security challenges, urging an increase in the budget to accommodate the country’s physical policy. He emphasized that the well-being of over 200 million Nigerians depends on robust security measures to avert any potential unrest.
