Top Nigerian Leaders Set to Speak at The Platform’s June 12 Democracy Dialogue

Prominent Nigerian leaders, including Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, are slated to headline this year’s edition of The Platform, an annual national discourse organized to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day on June 12.

Hosted by The Covenant Nation in Lagos, The Platform has grown into a highly anticipated forum for dialogue on governance, leadership, and the future of Nigeria. The 2025 edition, themed “Democracy and the Nigeria We Want”, aims to provide actionable insights on deepening democratic ideals and tackling key national challenges.

Joining Soludo and Sanwo-Olu on the speakers’ list are thought leaders, policy experts, technocrats, and civic activists from across the country. Organizers say this year’s event will focus on inclusive governance, youth engagement, economic reform, and the role of institutions in safeguarding democracy.

Past editions of The Platform have sparked robust national conversations and often set the tone for policy debates at both state and federal levels.

Dr. Poju Oyemade, convener of the event and Senior Pastor of The Covenant Nation, said the lineup of speakers reflects the urgency of addressing Nigeria’s democratic and developmental crossroads. “We have brought together leaders who are not only vocal but are actively shaping policy and public life in their respective domains,” he said.

The event, which will be streamed live and open to virtual attendees, coincides with the country’s Democracy Day celebrations, commemorating the historic June 12, 1993 election widely regarded as Nigeria’s freest and fairest.

With growing public interest in leadership accountability and national progress, this year’s Platform promises to be a defining moment in the ongoing conversation about Nigeria’s democratic journey.
