APC Chieftain Tolu Bankole Congratulates Aremo Olusegun Osoba on His 85th Birthday

Celebration of Exemplary Leadership and Legacy

Tolu Bankole, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has congratulated former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, on his 85th birthday, praising his exemplary leadership and lasting impact on governance.

Bankole’s message follows President Bola Tinubu’s commendation of Osoba as a notable Nigerian dedicated to the unity and development of the country. This was highlighted during the launch of Osoba’s book, “My Life In the Public Eye,” held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos to mark his 85th birthday.

In his congratulatory statement on Monday, Bankole, the APC national leader for Persons with Disabilities, highlighted Osoba’s significant contributions to journalism and politics. Osoba, a former editor of the Daily Times and past chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism’s governing board, has made a lasting impact on those he has served.

“Aremo Olusegun Osoba’s life and career are a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service, democracy, and the development of our nation. As an accomplished journalist, he has made significant contributions to the media landscape, upholding the principles of truth, integrity, and freedom of the press,” Bankole said.

He continued, “His exemplary leadership and dedication as a politician have set a high standard for governance, earning him the respect and admiration of Nigerians across all walks of life. Osoba’s legacy as a mentor to the next generation of leaders is commendable. His guidance, wisdom, and support have nurtured many young politicians and public servants, ensuring the continuity of good governance and democratic values in our country.”

Bankole acknowledged Osoba’s remarkable achievements and contributions to the progress of Ogun State and Nigeria, wishing him continued health, happiness, and fulfillment.

Osoba’s illustrious career began in journalism in the 1960s before transitioning to politics. He served as the governor of Ogun State from 1992 to 1993 during the Third Republic under the Social Democratic Party. After being removed from office by the late General Sani Abacha’s administration in 1993, he was re-elected as governor from May 1999 to May 2003 on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy.
