In a recent development, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has garnered support and blessings from the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere Pa Reuben Fasoranti, and other prominent members of the group. The visit took place yesterday as the governor sought their backing in light of the passing of his predecessor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
During the visit, Fasoranti conveyed the elders’ support and extended goodwill, offering a prayer for the governor’s leadership. He wished for divine guidance and wisdom, expressing hopes for success and prosperity in Aiyedatiwa’s administration. Grateful for the support, Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked the elders and pledged to seek their counsel in leading the state.
Accompanied by top government officials and aides, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the visit was a gesture of homage to Fasonranti and other Afenifere leaders who contributed significantly to the state’s and Nigeria’s development.
Expressing gratitude for the elders’ fatherly role in restoring peace during recent political crises in Ondo, the governor acknowledged their invaluable wisdom and guidance. He particularly praised their intervention in advocating constitutional adherence, which brought stability to the state.
During the visit, Oba Olu Falae, the Oluabo of Ilu Abo, highlighted the urgency of preserving the Yoruba language and urged the governor to implement policies for its protection. He commended Ondo State’s leadership in positive initiatives, including the establishment of the Amotekun security outfit.
Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa also extended condolences and emphasized the need for immense goodwill for success.
