Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared that the 2027 general election will mark his last attempt to become Nigeria’s president.
Atiku made the statement on Wednesday during an interview on Arise TV, where he spoke about his political future and aspirations.
“This (2027) will be my last shot. The stakes are higher, because I believe that would be my last chance,” he said.
The former vice-president has contested the presidency multiple times in the past but has not been successful. He was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.
Atiku’s declaration is expected to shape political conversations ahead of the 2027 race, as parties begin early strategising and alignments.
