Atiku, Sambo Pay Courtesy Visit to Aregbesola Ahead of Owa Obokun Coronation in Osun

Former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo arrived in Osun State on Friday to pay a courtesy visit to former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, ahead of the coronation of the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.

The high-profile visit took place at Aregbesola’s residence in Ilesa, where the political leaders held closed-door discussions believed to be related to the forthcoming royal ceremony and national unity.

Dressed in traditional Yoruba attire, Atiku and Sambo were received warmly by Aregbesola and local leaders. The trio exchanged pleasantries before posing for photographs, sparking significant public interest across social media.

Their visit precedes Saturday’s coronation of the new Owa Obokun, a historic event that has attracted dignitaries from across the country. Sources say both Atiku and Sambo are expected to attend the ceremony to honour the cultural heritage of Ijesaland and foster national cohesion.

This development comes amid a renewed wave of political realignments and cultural diplomacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

More photos and video footage of the visit have surfaced online, drawing praise from many Nigerians for what they describe as a show of respect for tradition and unity.
