Army Chief Orders Troops to Intensify Anti-Terror Onslaught Without Relent

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has charged Nigerian soldiers to adopt an unyielding approach in the fight against terrorism, directing them to “crush and clear” insurgents without hesitation or mercy.

Addressing troops during an operational visit to the North-East Theatre of Operations, General Lagbaja urged the soldiers to show no leniency to criminal elements threatening Nigeria’s sovereignty and public safety.

“You must go all out. Crush the enemy, clear them from every inch of Nigerian soil, and do so with absolute resolve. This is not the time for restraint — the nation is counting on you,” the COAS said, according to a statement from Army Headquarters.

The Army Chief also emphasized the need for professionalism and adherence to the rules of engagement, warning that while the offensive must be decisive, civilian protection remains paramount.

The visit comes as the military intensifies operations in volatile regions, particularly in Borno, Yobe, and parts of the North-West, where remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP continue to pose threats.

Military sources confirmed that recent operations have yielded significant results, including the clearance of terrorist enclaves and the recovery of weapons.

General Lagbaja reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to ending insurgency and restoring lasting peace across the country, while also promising improved welfare and logistics support for frontline troops.

His call for unrelenting combat comes amid renewed efforts by the Federal Government to stabilize conflict-affected zones and resettle displaced persons.
