The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Ubahi-Mbosi, located within Ihiala Local Government Area.
Reports suggest that the assailants, armed and hooded, stormed Agbodike’s house at approximately 1 am, discharging firearms indiscriminately before igniting the premises. Thankfully, there were no casualties reported, but the extensive fire left Agbodike’s luxurious five-bedroom duplex, complete with four living rooms and a kitchen, completely destroyed.
Paschal Agbodike, who had previously served as the deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, was away in Abuja at the time of the attack, engaged in his legislative responsibilities. He learned about the incident through a phone call and subsequently confirmed the event to the press.
Authorities, including the state police spokesman DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, have acknowledged the incident. Security forces have cordoned off the area, and surveillance efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits behind this brazen attack. While Agbodike did not speculate about potential motives or suspects, the attack has raised concerns about the security situation in the region.
