Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu met with the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulkarim Chukkol, at the State House on Wednesday. The meeting, conducted behind closed doors, marked an important interaction between the President and the EFCC’s acting head.
Chukkol assumed the role of acting Chairman following President Tinubu’s decision to indefinitely suspend Abdulrasheed Bawa on June 14, 2023. The suspension was ordered to facilitate a thorough investigation into Bawa’s conduct during his tenure.
Prior to his appointment as the acting EFCC chairman, Chukkol served as the Director of Operations at the Commission. The closed-door meeting between President Tinubu and Chukkol signifies a significant step in the ongoing efforts to ensure the effective functioning of the EFCC and address matters related to its leadership and operations.
