Popular Nigerian comedian and skitmaker, Sanku, has died following a fatal car accident along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State.
His death was confirmed on Monday by fellow actor Yemi Elesho, who took to social media to announce the tragic news.
According to reports, Sanku and other passengers sustained severe injuries in the crash. While some survivors are receiving treatment, the comedian later succumbed to his wounds.
The news has thrown the entertainment industry into mourning, with Nollywood actors and fans flooding social media with tributes. Actress Funmi Awelewa expressed heartbreak, saying:
“The pain, the effort, the strength, the struggle… walai, nothing makes sense. I’m heartbroken. Even film sef never come out! It does not make sense.”
Influencer Jidex, who shared a video of the mangled vehicle, described the loss as devastating. “Someone who left home in good health is suddenly gone. It is painful, especially coming just a day after the passing of Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor,” he wrote.
In a haunting twist, Sanku had on August 4 released a skit where he imagined himself in heaven after death, joking about who he expected to see there. The video has since resurfaced online, adding to the emotional weight of his passing.
Tributes continue to pour in for the late comedian, who was widely loved for his creativity and comic brilliance.
