The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Ayomikun Shina, the only son of veteran actress Peju Ogunmola and popular comic actor Sunday Omobolanle, better known as Papi Luwe.
Shina, aged 24, reportedly died after slipping in a bathroom. He was alone at the time of the incident, with no one around to render immediate help.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by fellow Nollywood star Odunlade Adekola and Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.
Adekola, in a post on Instagram, described the incident as a “big loss,” praying for God to console Ogunmola and her family. Similarly, Oloketuyi wrote on Facebook: “Breaking! Peju Ogunmola loses her only child. He was 24. Such a sad day.”
Ayomikun had only recently completed his one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and was said to be residing abroad before the tragic incident.
The death of the young man has left the Nollywood community in shock, with colleagues, friends, and fans sending condolences to the bereaved family.
