The Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended warm congratulations to Governor Bassey Edet Otu and Deputy Governor Hon. Peter Odey following the Supreme Court’s judgment delivered last Friday, affirming their victory in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Venatius A Ikem, the Chairman of PDP in Cross Rivers State, expressed that the apex court’s verdict marks the conclusive end to the gubernatorial election and urged all stakeholders in the state to come together, close ranks, and contribute to the development and revitalization of the state under the newly established administration.
In an official statement, Ikem emphasized the need for the government to perceive this as an opportunity to reunite the state and promptly steer it towards much-needed development, especially after the challenging eight years of the previous administration. He called upon Governor Otu to lead the state in a manner that garners respect nationally, considering the current state’s less-than-enviable standing.
As the opposition party, PDP pledged to responsibly and constructively hold the government accountable for the sake of good governance, ensuring the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Cross River State. Ikem concluded by urging party members and stakeholders to unite for the collective interest and development of the state under the new administration.
