EFCC’s Corruption Charges Against Ex-Governor Okorocha Dismissed

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has absolved former Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State from the corruption suit filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court, in a dismissal verdict, declared that the EFCC’s allegations of fraud and abuse of office against the former Imo governor amounted to an abuse of the judicial process.

Presiding over the case, Justice Yusuf Halilu of the FCT High Court highlighted that the EFCC had already initiated a similar lawsuit against Okorocha at the Federal High Court, where the former Imo governor emerged victorious in December 2022. Taking this into consideration, the judge dismissed the current suit against Okorocha.
