Former Minister Osita Chidoka Calls for South-East Zoning of APC Chairmanship Position

Osita Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider zoning its national chairmanship position to the South-East region of Nigeria. Chidoka emphasized the need for inclusive representation within the party.

Following the resignation of the APC National Chairman and Secretary, Chidoka stated that this presents an opportunity for the party to reorganize its leadership structure.

In his statement on Twitter, Chidoka acknowledged that he is not a member of the APC and would not typically comment on its internal affairs. However, as a Nigerian with a strong commitment to national unity and well-being, he believes that the actions of the ruling party have significant implications for the country.

Chidoka stressed the importance of deliberate inclusive policies in building national unity. He advised President Tinubu to rise above petty politics and embrace the idea of a renewed Nigeria.

The former minister recommended that the APC zone the National Chairmanship position to the South-East, ensuring that the region is represented in a meaningful way. He countered potential objections by pointing out that other regions, such as the Southwest, have not always supported the ruling party’s candidates in the past but still held influential positions.

Chidoka sees the resignation of the APC Chairman as an opportunity for the party to redefine its national identity and move away from past instances of nepotism and insensitivity. By zonning the position of National Chairman to the South-East, Chidoka believes the APC can demonstrate its commitment to inclusivity.

In his concluding remarks, Chidoka called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party leaders to prioritize the unity of the nation and make decisions that reflect a broader national consensus. According to Chidoka, appointing a South-East National Chairman for the APC would be a positive step forward in this direction.
