Headline: Charly Boy Mourns Death of Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu

Veteran singer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has paid tribute to Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, following his death on Thursday at the age of 82. In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Charly Boy reflected on the significant role Iwuanyanwu played in his early career.

Charly Boy described Iwuanyanwu as the first Nigerian to support and believe in him. Recalling their first meeting in 1981, Charly Boy shared that Iwuanyanwu provided him with $8,000, which was instrumental in starting his Jankara studio in his village, Oguta. “He was the very first Nigerian who supported and believed in my dream,” Charly Boy wrote.

Expressing deep gratitude, Charly Boy highlighted the impact of Iwuanyanwu’s support on his life and career, emphasizing that legacy is defined by the positive influence one has on others. “Legacy is really about the lives we touched, the inspiration we gave,” Charly Boy noted, adding that Iwuanyanwu’s generosity and kindness would be remembered by many.

President Bola Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari, governors, and other dignitaries have also mourned Iwuanyanwu’s passing, acknowledging his contributions and influence.
