Headline: Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Mourns Akwa Ibom First Lady Patience Eno’s Passing

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended heartfelt condolences to his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Umo Eno, following the death of his wife, Patience Eno. The announcement was made by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, who revealed that the First Lady passed away on September 26, 2024, at a hospital, surrounded by family.

In a statement released on Friday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu described Patience Eno as a “pillar of support” for Governor Eno, praising her leadership and humanitarian efforts in the state.

“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, and family, as well as the government and people of Lagos State, it is with a deep sense of sorrow that I commiserate with my brother, Governor Pastor Umo Eno, on the passing of his beloved wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno,” the statement read.

Sanwo-Olu also expressed his deepest condolences to the people of Akwa Ibom State, the Eno family, and the wives of all state governors in Nigeria. He highlighted Patience Eno’s impactful work through the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), a foundation that provided shelter, food, and education to the poor and vulnerable in Akwa Ibom.

Known affectionately as Eka Iberedem Akwa Ibom, meaning “Mother and Strong Pillar of Akwa Ibom,” Patience Eno was well-loved for her compassionate leadership and humanitarian contributions during her lifetime.

Sanwo-Olu concluded his statement with prayers for the repose of the deceased, asking for God’s comfort for Governor Umo Eno, their family, and the people of Akwa Ibom as they cope with this profound loss.
