Yesterday, the Imo State House of Assembly conducted screenings for twelve commissioner nominees, including former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Bede Ekeh. Governor Hope Uzodimma had submitted the list of nominees for approval, and the screening process was a crucial step in the governance activation process.
Among the nominees screened were Hon. Declan Emelumba, Hon. Chimezie Amadi, Barr. Ralph Nwosu, Chief Cosmas Madauba, Dr Sir Chika Benson Abazu, and Ozo Obinna Ogwuegbu. The list also included immediate past member of the House of Representatives, Hon Bede Ekeh, who previously represented Ngor Okpala and Aboh Mbaise federal constituency. Other nominees screened were Hon. Osakwe Modestus, Hon. Anyanwu Anselem Ezechinyere, Barr. Emenike Ejikeme Chuks Major, and Hon. Onyeoha Obinna Evaristus. However, Hon Mrs Nkechi Ugwu was absent, and her screening was rescheduled due to her overseas commitment.
The release of the commissioner list has generated excitement across the state, signaling the beginning of active governance and the functioning of various ministries. Notable appointments include Hon. Declan Emelumba as the expected Information Commissioner, Ralph Nwosu as the Works Commissioner, and Nkechi Ugwu as the Women Affairs Commissioner.
