Labour Party Announces Fixed Prices and Schedule for 2024 Bye Elections

The Labour Party has established fixed prices for the acquisition of nomination and expression of interest forms in preparation for the February 3, 2024 Bye Elections, in accordance with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) announcement. The party’s national secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, outlined the timetable and activities, noting that the purchase of forms commenced on December 28, 2023, and will conclude on January 4, 2024. Completed form submissions are also due on January 4, 2024.

In a statement released by the national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party disclosed that Primary Elections are scheduled for January 7, 2024. The leadership has approved fees for Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, with exemptions for female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD). Senate forms are priced at N1.5 million and N3.5 million, House of Reps at N1 million and N2 million, and House of Assembly at N1 million and N500, respectively.

The party strongly cautioned against a fake timetable circulating, purportedly released by expelled former members attempting to defraud the public. The party clarified that the fraudulent timetable did not originate from the Labour Party, and the associated account number is unrecognized by the party.

The statement emphasized the availability of Bye-election forms at the National Headquarters in Abuja and urged aspirants to obtain them from the National Organising Secretary. The party reassured aspirants facing attacks from fraudulent groups in the Edo governorship polls, urging them to focus on their campaigns and disregard such attempts to discourage their participation. The statement concluded with a warning to the fraudulent group to seek an alternate platform for their activities, as Nigerians are aware of their expired gimmicks.
