Lagos APC Warns of Fraudulent Message Seeking Members’ Banking Details

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from a viral message asking ethnic coordinators and party members to submit sensitive personal data, including bank and identification details, for supposed “stipend payments.”

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the party described the message as “false, fraudulent, and mischievous,” stressing that neither State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi nor any APC organ issued such a directive.

“The Lagos APC does not conduct its affairs through indiscriminate collection of sensitive data such as BVN, NIN, or voter cards, nor do we distribute stipends in the manner suggested,” Oladejo said.

He warned that the message was the handiwork of scammers seeking to exploit unsuspecting individuals and damage the party’s reputation.

The APC urged members and the public to ignore the communication and refrain from sharing personal or financial information with unknown persons.

“Any official communication from the Lagos APC will be disseminated only through established party structures, verified channels, and authorised spokespersons,” the statement added.

The party also called on security agencies to investigate and prosecute those behind the scam, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and integrity in all operations.
