In a noteworthy announcement, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State revealed on Thursday that the highly anticipated construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge is set to kick off in the first quarter of this year, with a likely commencement date by the end of March or April.
Governor Sanwo-Olu shared this pivotal information during his keynote address at the Lagos West Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton, Ikeja. Emphasizing the significance of the bridge as a major infrastructure project for Lagos, he outlined that the construction would unfold in multiple phases.
Addressing concerns about the impact on structures in the construction zone, the Governor assured landlords and tenants affected by demolitions that they would receive appropriate compensation.
While acknowledging the substantial groundwork accomplished on the bridge, Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the challenge of securing financing for such a significant project. He expressed the need for innovative financing solutions and affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to initiating construction within the first quarter of 2024.
