The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has announced that his phone line has been hacked, advising the public to refrain from using the compromised number. In a disclaimer posted on his official X account on Thursday, Mamman urged individuals to ignore any messages requesting assistance until the issue is resolved.
“My phone line has been compromised. Please refrain from calling the number and ignore any messages requesting assistance until the issue is resolved. Thank you for your understanding,” he stated.
The Ministry of Education confirmed the breach, stating that the compromised line is being misused by unauthorized individuals. In a follow-up statement issued on Friday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the ministry expressed regret over the inconvenience and urged the public to disregard any messages received from the affected number.
“The Office of the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, wishes to inform the general public that the Minister’s WhatsApp number has been hacked and is currently being used by unauthorized individuals,” the statement read.
The ministry has reported the incident to the relevant authorities, and an investigation is currently underway. They also advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to the hacked number.
