Recently, Ijeoma Okochi-Agwu hosted a transformative event at LEA Secondary School in Abuja, Nigeria, empowering 17 young girls to become agents of change in the fight against climate change.
Through an engaging educational session, interactive discussions, and informative videos, the students learned about the environmental impact of their daily activities and the importance of upcycling and sustainable fashion practices. The event featured a hands-on upcycling session, where the girls created their own eco-friendly T-shirts, promoting a culture of environmental stewardship.
Ijeoma Okochi-Agwu expressed her pride in collaborating with local NGO, Give Girls A Chance, and brand partner, Sisi Calabar, to amplify the impact of the initiative. She emphasized the significance of education in shaping attitudes and behaviors, especially among young girls, and instilling in them a sense of environmental responsibility.
The event showcased the talents of young artists, Michelle and Demilade, who guided the girls in integrating art into fashion and embracing sustainable practices. As a result, the students departed with a newfound sense of accomplishment, enthusiasm, and a commitment to fashioning a greener future.
This inspiring initiative demonstrates the power of education, art, and community-driven efforts in promoting sustainability and eco-consciousness.
