The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed disagreement with the Appeal Court’s decision that overturned the Nasarawa State Election Petition Tribunal Judgment, affirming Sule Abdullahi as the state governor. In a statement signed by the state chairman, Hon. Francis Enokela Orogu, the party, while respecting the judiciary and the rule of law, asserted that the Appeal Court’s ruling does not align with the evidence presented during the tribunal proceedings.
Orogu conveyed that the PDP’s legal team has identified substantial grounds for appeal, warranting a review by the Supreme Court. The statement emphasized the party’s commitment to filing an appeal, seeking a fair and thorough examination of the Court of Appeal’s judgment.
The statement reads, “Our party will be filing an appeal to the Supreme Court seeking a fair and thorough review of the judgment of the Court of Appeal. We have confidence in the legal system and are optimistic that justice will prevail.”
While expressing appreciation for the support and solidarity from its members, the PDP urged supporters to remain calm, maintain confidence in democratic institutions, and trust the judicial system. Despite viewing the Appeal Court’s decision as a temporary setback, the party reiterated its unwavering commitment to democratic principles and the pursuit of justice for the people of Nasarawa State.
