Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani, the recently sworn-in Senator representing Ebonyi South in the National Assembly, expressed gratitude and pledged commitment to his constituents during a reception held in his honor. The event, attended by dignitaries such as Minister of Works Engr. Dave Umahi, Ebonyi State APC leaders, and colleagues from the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), celebrated Prof. Ani’s emergence as a senator.
Prof. Ani, succeeding Umahi as Ebonyi South Senator, described himself as fortunate and assured the people that he would not disappoint them. He acknowledged the role played by Minister Umahi in his senatorial appointment and expressed gratitude to the Governor of Ebonyi State for supporting his nomination.
“I will not disappoint the trust you repose in me. I will do my best. In all I do, I always put in my best. I will perform. Since I was born, I’ve never failed any exam, I’ve never failed any subject. I can’t fail now,” assured Prof. Ani, emphasizing his commitment to serving the constituency.
Minister Dave Umahi commended the governor for leading Ani to his destiny and expressed happiness that a professor replaced him in the Senate, signifying respect. He pledged support for Ani and assured him of assistance to secure the rightful position in the Senate.
Prof. Patrick Kwaghe, Prof. Ani’s colleague from UNIMAID, celebrated the people of Ebonyi for choosing an excellent candidate and urged Ani not to fail his constituents. He emphasized the positive impact of Ebonyi South’s decision, stating, “What happened in Ebonyi South will spread over Nigeria.” Prof. Kwaghe, expressing confidence in Ani’s capabilities, encouraged him to uphold excellence in his service to the people.
