The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Police Service Commission (PSC) have resolved their disagreement over the 2022 constable recruitment list. This follows a dispute that erupted after the PSC released the names of 10,000 successful applicants for constable and specialist roles on June 4, which the police had initially rejected, citing allegations of corruption and irregularities.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi announced that an agreement had been reached between the two organizations after extensive discussions. He affirmed that the resolution ensures the recruitment process remains transparent, fair, and merit-based.
Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun expressed confidence that the new recruits will significantly contribute to national security. “The agreement on the final merit list is a testament to the commitment of both the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission to work together in the best interest of the country,” Adejobi said.
The new recruits will begin their training on August 10, 2024. The intensive program will cover modern policing ethics and principles, community policing strategies, ICT, artificial intelligence, human relations, and behavioral change. Adejobi emphasized that the training is designed to equip recruits with the skills necessary to perform their duties effectively and uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Inspector General of Police also thanked all stakeholders and the public for their patience and support throughout the process.
