Ondo PDP Urges Governor Akeredolu to Disclose State’s Financial Statement and Transmit Power

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has called on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to urgently disclose the financial statement of the state, particularly in relation to the allocation of N7 billion palliative funds. The party, addressing journalists in Akure, stressed the need for transparency in the management of the state’s resources.

The PDP expressed concern about the alleged absence of palliative distribution to the residents, prompting a demand for accountability from the Akeredolu administration. The party emphasized that the finances of the state are a collective concern and called for a balance sheet to be presented to the citizenry.

Hon. Fatai Adams, the chairman of the party, highlighted the lack of financial updates to the public during Governor Akeredolu’s tenure, urging the administration to provide a clear account of expenditures. Adams referenced the practice of monthly or yearly financial updates during previous administrations and called for similar transparency.

The PDP also called on Governor Akeredolu to delegate power to his deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, citing the governor’s apparent absence due to illness. The party emphasized that the business of governing the state is a serious responsibility, not a trivial matter.

Concerning the governor’s health, the PDP reminded Akeredolu of his past advice to President Umaru Yar‘Adua about prioritizing health over political duties. The party urged the governor to follow his own counsel and transfer power to the deputy governor during his recovery.

The PDP raised concerns about the reported actions of Babajide, allegedly using the governor’s official convoy for personal visits, describing it as an abuse of power. The party disapproved of such actions and criticized the indiscipline and rudeness of some members of the State Executive Council towards the deputy governor.

In conclusion, the PDP urged Governor Akeredolu to consider his historical legacy and emphasized that the health of the state should not be compromised due to the governor’s illness. The party highlighted the importance of posterity in judging the governor’s actions and urged him to prioritize the welfare of the state.
