In a bid to ensure seamless governance and prevent any administrative vacuum, Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has inaugurated interim transition committee chairmen for all 17 Local Government Areas in the state. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the banquet hall of Government House Damaturu.

During the ceremony, Governor Buni emphasized the necessity of these appointments, citing the expiration of the tenure of the last elected local government councils. He urged the newly sworn-in caretaker chairmen to focus on enhancing local revenue generation to support the financing of development projects within their respective areas, ultimately benefitting the grassroots population.

Governor Buni highlighted that the selection of the interim committee chairmen was based on criteria such as hard work, loyalty, experience, and a commitment to delivering selfless services to the people. He urged them to pay particular attention to the relationship between farmers and herders during the farm harvest season and the migration of herdsmen. The governor emphasized the government’s stance against any actions that could disrupt peace among farmers and grazers in rural communities.

Addressing the issue of grazing, Governor Buni advised grazers not to trespass on farmland that is yet to be harvested, while urging farmers not to block cattle routes, allowing for the free movement of livestock. He stressed the importance of upholding accountability, transparency, and due process, urging the local government chairmen to align with the principles of the present administration. Governor Buni emphasized the commitment to implementing people-oriented policies and programs aimed at improving the lives of the citizens.
