In a bid to foster a conducive business environment and stimulate economic growth in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has successfully streamlined multiple taxes and levies collected from businesses by various government departments.
Governor Adeleke, in a recent statement, announced the implementation of this policy as part of his administration’s ongoing initiatives to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and enhance the overall economy of the state.
The governor stated, “In continuation of our administration’s effort to improve the state economy and encourage SMEs, we have completed the harmonization of multiple taxes and levies collected by different government departments, agencies, and ministries across all business sectors of the state economy, including the informal sectors, into a single bill.”
This consolidated bill encompasses all levies that businesses are required to pay on an annual basis, streamlining the payment process and promoting ease of doing business. Governor Adeleke emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure a seamless and convenient payment system for individuals and businesses throughout the state, offering flexibility in payment tranches and issuing a Harmonized Bill Certificate upon the completion of the total payment.
Governor Adeleke also provided details on the official online payment channels for the state, including http://pay.irs.os.gov.ng, POS machines in Tax stations across the state, commercial banks across Nigeria, and Money Transfer Services for those outside Nigeria.
In addition to the harmonization of taxes, the governor highlighted the completion of various technological advancements to enhance service delivery. These include the deployment of an Automation System for improved rent and lease payment on government properties, a streamlined process for obtaining Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) within 45 days, an Electronic Affidavit System, an Electronic State of Origin and Local Government Area of Origin portal, Mobile tax stations, and an Online Tax payment system.
