PDP Governorship Aspirant Asue Ighodalo Asserts Independence, Vows to Build on Edo’s Progress

Barrister Asue Ighodalo, a governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, has refuted speculations suggesting that he is the favored candidate of any individual. Despite being touted as the preferred aspirant of incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ighodalo emphasized his commitment to charting an independent course.

During an interactive session with the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ighodalo called for unity among PDP members and urged them to collaborate for the party’s success in the upcoming governorship election. The investment banker, hailing from Ewohimi in Edo Central, clarified that he is not aligned with any particular patron but is poised to leverage his experience as the former chairman of various companies.

Asserting his dedication to the state’s economic prosperity, Ighodalo outlined his vision for Edo, emphasizing the need for robust infrastructure, including roads, water supply, hospitals, and schools. Despite acknowledging the challenge of transitioning from the private sector to politics, he expressed preparedness for the demands of the role, emphasizing the importance of integrity.

Ighodalo stated, “I am here to serve the state, and I can say I am the best man for the job. I hear people saying I am someone’s candidate, but I can tell you that I am nobody’s candidate. All I will do is bring my experience to bear, having been chairman of several top companies.”

The aspirant pledged to provide opportunities for youths in his government, recognizing their talents as crucial for the state’s development. He affirmed his commitment to the upliftment of the state, promising to draw on past successes while adapting policies to address current needs.

In a bid to foster unity within the PDP in Edo State, Ighodalo called on stakeholders to set aside differences and work collaboratively for the party’s success in the state.
