In response to circulating rumors suggesting his departure from the Labour Party, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has emphatically declared that he remains loyal to the party. Dismissing the reports as the work of mischief makers, Obi emphasized that his ties with the Labour Party are unbroken.
The statement clarifying the situation was released by the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), represented by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the chief spokesman of the defunct Obi-Datti campaign council. Tanko stated that the misinformation did not originate from Obi or the Obidient Movement, attributing it to individuals with ill intentions seeking to create discord within the party.
Tanko further explained, “This is not true and it did not originate from Obi or the Obidient Movement but from mischief makers bent on sowing the seed of discord in the party.” He highlighted a pattern of misdemeanors aimed at disorganizing the party, pointing out that such efforts have been ongoing to undermine the party and hinder Obi’s mission to contribute to the country’s progress.
While addressing Obi’s current priorities, Tanko emphasized that the focus is on national development rather than partisan politics. He assured the public that Obi’s commitment to the Labour Party remains steadfast and unshaken. Tanko stressed that Obi is dedicated to creating an environment where democracy can thrive, free from the prevailing challenges of rascality and impunity in the country.
Tanko concluded by affirming that the struggle to rescue Nigeria from the challenges posed by criminal elements will persist, and Obi’s commitment to the Labour Party remains intact, driven by the will of the Nigerian people.
