The Nigerian Senate has rescheduled the presentation of President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list, which was originally planned for today, to Wednesday, July 26, 2023. The decision to postpone the announcement was made during the Senate plenary on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Senator Bamidele Opeyemi, the majority leader, put forward the motion to delay the announcement without providing a specific reason. The motion was seconded by Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon, the minority leader, and agreed upon to be addressed in the next legislative session.
President Bola Tinubu had submitted the ministerial list to the Senate the previous week, but the announcement was purportedly postponed due to modifications made to the list. The letter containing the list was received by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Magaji Tambuwal, on Tuesday, July 18.
As the 60-day deadline approaches for the President to send the ministerial list, Nigerians have been speculating about its contents and potential implications.
