Tinubu and Service Chiefs Confer at State House in Maiden Meeting

President Bola Tinubu, meeting with the service chiefs at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday, cautioned that he will not condone security agencies working at cross purposes in their duties to protect Nigeria.

President Tinubu in his first meeting on assumption of office, urged security agencies to strengthen coordination and not to work at cross purposes. The service chiefs were led to the first meeting with the President by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabo.


The President at the end of the meeting, indicated that he will deal with security issues through the adoption of contemporary security measures to advance the country’s security fortunes.

The National Security Adviser, Babagana Munguno, speaking to State House Correspondents, stated that President Tinubu urged frequent consultations in tandem with the demands of the nation, promising to embark on reforms.

Munguno added that the President directed the security agencies to develop a blueprint to deal with crude oil theft, insisting that the changes to meet the requirements of the changing times.


Participants at the meeting include the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao; and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; the Director-General of the Department of State Service(DSS), Yusuf Bichi; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.

President Tinubu had on Wednesday, met with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, for a briefing on the war against corruption in Nigeria.
