In a deeply distressing incident, Bem Matthew from Korinya-City, located in the Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, has been apprehended by the police for fatally stabbing his wife. The harrowing event unfolded at approximately 7:03 am on Tuesday.
As reported by DAILY POST, concerned neighbors swiftly converged on the scene and managed to detain the suspect, while the lifeless body of the victim was transported to the mortuary.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody by officers from the Konshisha Divisional Police Station. During police questioning, he disturbingly confessed to the murder, revealing that he had taken such a grave step because he perceived his wife as no longer being “submissive” to him.
An anonymous eyewitness disclosed that the victim had sustained stab wounds on her rib, back, and thigh, painting a grim picture of the fatal assault.
It was discovered that the couple had four children as a product of their union.
The remains of the deceased were respectfully laid to rest at the mortuary of Saint Joseph’s Clinic and Maternity in Korinya City.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Benue State Police Command proved unsuccessful, as SP Catherine Anekwe, the police spokesperson, could not be reached for comments on the matter.
