Two key figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara North, Hon. Abubakar Suka Baba and Abubakar Musa, popularly known as Biology, have officially crossed over to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The formal announcement of their defection to the APC took place at a vibrant ceremony in Kaiama, the headquarters of Kaiama local government area. During the event, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, the state chairman of the APC, alongside other party officials, warmly welcomed the two grassroots politicians into the folds of the ruling party.
Hon. Abubakar Suka Baba, a former deputy speaker in the state House of Assembly, and Abubakar Musa, the former state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers and PDP House of Representatives’ candidate in the 2019 general elections, cited the noticeable infrastructure development in Kwara North under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as their motivation for joining the APC.
Expressing their satisfaction, they mentioned that Kwara North has experienced equitable infrastructure development and increased representation in key positions of authority since the APC administration came into power in 2019.
Chairman of Alliance for Sustainable Kwara (ASK), Malam Razaq Lawal, and some members of the association also officially joined the APC during the ceremony. Welcoming the former PDP leaders, Prince Sunday Fagbemi assured them of equal treatment within the party, emphasizing that the APC is inclusive enough to accommodate well-meaning politicians from all parts of the state.
Fagbemi expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for implementing people-oriented policies and programs, which have consistently attracted prominent politicians from opposition parties to the ruling APC. He urged the people of the state to continue supporting Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration as a reciprocation for the positive strides the governor has achieved.
