2027, Rivers Will Vote Based on Interest, Not Party Lines

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that the people of Rivers State will vote based on unity and collective interest rather than political party affiliation in the 2027 general election.

Wike made the statement while addressing residents of Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, during a visit to appreciate them for their support. He said Rivers people would align with leaders who act in their interest, adding that the state would vote for President Bola Tinubu.

According to the minister, leaders are chosen to represent the will of the people and not to pursue personal agendas. “Follow your leaders. Wherever they go, that is where we will go as well,” Wike said, stressing that his visit was not a campaign but a show of gratitude to the people of Khana.

He commended the community for supporting President Tinubu during the 2023 elections despite widespread political uncertainty at the time. Wike noted that the support had translated into tangible benefits for the area, including improved road infrastructure, the establishment of the University of Environment, and other development projects facilitated by the president’s goodwill.

Wike also disclosed that Ogoniland had already received several federal appointments, with assurances that more opportunities were forthcoming. He added that Rivers State residents would increasingly vote based on shared interests to advance development under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Earlier, the lawmaker representing Khana, Rep. Dumnamene Dekor (APC), praised Wike and President Tinubu for bringing renewed attention and development to Ogoniland, assuring them of continued support from the area.

Also speaking, Mrs. Barile Nwakoh, an APC member representing Khana 1 State Constituency, said women in the area were ready to support President Tinubu should he seek re-election, citing Wike’s honesty and commitment to the people.

In the same vein, Chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Dr Thomas Bariere, thanked Wike for his consistent support, noting that development had followed since the community backed President Tinubu. He assured the minister of the continued loyalty of the people of Khana.
