During the Public Hearing of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tetfund, alongside the House of Representatives Committee on Students Loan, Scholarship, and Higher Education Financing, Senator Godswill Akpabio emphasized the significant positive impact that the legislative agenda of the 10th National Assembly will have on the standard of living of Nigerians.

Akpabio made these remarks at the Senate on Monday, where discussions revolved around the Student Loan (Access to Higher Education), repeal and reenactment Bill 2024. He underscored the commitment of the 10th National Assembly to implement a legislative agenda aimed at enhancing the living conditions of citizens, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Represented by Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, Akpabio praised Tinubu for his visionary approach and strong support for students through the loan scheme, which seeks to address funding challenges among Nigerian students.

Akpabio emphasized the importance of considering the opinions of all stakeholders in amending the bill to ensure the formulation of effective legislation. He urged participants to freely express their views during the hearing, recognizing the vital role of public hearings in the legislative process.

Acknowledging the significance of stakeholders’ input, Akpabio highlighted that the recommendations from the Joint Public Hearing would inform the committee’s decisions, ultimately shaping the legislative framework for the better governance of the citizenry as outlined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
