In a devastating turn of events, Didango, a Jukun community in Karim Lamido Local Government Council of Taraba State, faces the grip of a cholera outbreak. The tragic toll reveals six lives lost and 40 individuals currently hospitalized. The outbreak, attributed to contaminated water sources shared with animals, prompted the affected individuals, especially children, to experience severe symptoms. Danjos, during the briefing, emphasized the urgent need for intervention, expressing concern over the community’s health crisis.

Danjos stated, “The pandemic is cholera; this is because of the bad water people drink. They drink it together with animals, so this has caused a problem for their health, as they are purging and vomiting.”

Fredrick Nyanganji, the Director of Primary Health Care of Karim Lamido Local Government, confirmed the outbreak’s occurrence on December 14, 2023, with six children losing their lives to this unfortunate health crisis.

The state government is collaborating with health authorities to control the outbreak, emphasizing the urgency of necessary actions to safeguard the community’s well-being.
