Cross River Speaker Hails Workers for Their Dedication and Role in Nation Building

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem, has praised workers across all sectors for their unwavering commitment, resilience, and immense contributions to the development and stability of both Cross River State and Nigeria.

In a statement released in Calabar on Thursday through his Chief Press Secretary, Matthew Okache, Speaker Ayambem expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the state’s workforce in driving societal progress.

He highlighted the vital role played by a broad range of professionals—including civil servants, healthcare practitioners, educators, traders, farmers, security agents, and artisans—who, through their daily sacrifices, form the bedrock of sustainable development.

The Speaker called on workers in the state to maintain their support for the administration of Governor Bassey Otu, whose “People First” policy, he noted, puts the welfare and empowerment of the workforce at the forefront of governance.

According to Ayambem, the dedication of workers is instrumental to a thriving economy and to improving the living standards of the people of Cross River.

“May Day is a time to honour the hardworking men and women whose efforts power our economy and sustain our communities,” he said. “Your perseverance and diligence are the driving forces behind our collective progress.”

Reaffirming the legislature’s support, Speaker Ayambem assured workers that the Cross River State House of Assembly remains committed to enacting laws and promoting policies that safeguard workers’ rights, encourage decent job creation, and uplift the overall well-being of the labor force.
