Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has paid glowing tribute to the unwavering resilience and dedication of Rivers State workers, describing them as the backbone of the state’s development and a beacon of stability in the face of ongoing political turbulence.
In a Workers’ Day message released through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Governor Fubara praised the tireless efforts of workers across various sectors who, despite challenges, continue to sustain essential services and uphold the values of commitment, patriotism, and integrity.
Speaking to the theme of this year’s celebration, “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” Fubara stressed the urgency of protecting workers from the dual threats of environmental instability and socio-political uncertainty. He emphasized that ensuring workplace safety and employee well-being is fundamental to long-term economic and social progress.
He acknowledged the Federal Government’s strides—under President Bola Tinubu—in implementing labor reforms and climate-conscious policies that support a more secure and adaptable work environment nationwide.
Fubara expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Rivers, noting that their strength and perseverance in the face of political upheaval symbolize hope for a just and prosperous future. He reiterated his commitment to championing the rights of workers, calling on all employers to honor labor laws and foster workplaces built on dignity and fairness.
“Our workers are not just the drivers of our economy—they are the soul of our collective resilience,” Fubara stated. “Their daily sacrifices ensure the continued growth of our state, even in trying times.”
He concluded with a prayer for wisdom and unity among leaders and citizens alike, pledging that his administration remains unwavering in its pursuit of justice, peace, and inclusive progress.
